Today I woke up and sneezed twice, thus changing the pressure in my head so as to create a vortex. Or at least it seemed like a vortex. After standing up and landing in several walls and discovering I was not truly in touch with what was up and what was down I cursed the vulnerability of our brains and decided I’m not going to post the post I had in mind. Too much like work. I wanted to start posting in the day time – to see if I become any more positive a person. It is a social experiment, really.
Instead, I went through my own personal archives and pulled up a few one or two line quotes that I’ll put in here instead.

I think the boys have managed to break the baby gate already, some sort of pin latch arrangement came out of it today.
They are nothing if not mechanically adept.
Leif is also on the other side of it, something not even I can seem to do, how the hell did he do that? Did he levitate?
Meanwhile, Leif keeps asking me if we've screwed a new Light "bolt" (editor’s note – to this day now 5 years later they are still called light bolts in this household) into the ceiling in the bedroom.
And I told him to stay away from the debris of the ruined flowers because of the needles. And now he's spending the day on the couch hiding from the "baby eels."

Leif just came in while I was cooking, told me he was bad, going to be bad and was going to stay bad and he'd decided I should maybe call the gypsies.
I threaten them all with Gypsies, tell them that someday I'll trade them in for a load of gypsy horses.
Meanwhile,
The boys just did it. They did it. The stuff you will probably remember until the day you die of old age.
Queak just grabbed out and poured a ten pound sack of flour all over himself and now they are playing in it like a sand box. On one hand, I envy the carefree way they seem to be enjoying the soft sand as Leif is calling it. On the other hand I stood there clutching my temples for a few minutes and then just came in the living room and put the baby gate up. They can stay in there until I can stomach the mess. Luckily it's dry but I know it will leave a trail when I bring them in here and just think about it, when I take them to the bath they will be a big pile of play dough. With their natural salt content and maybe I could put some dye in with them, what do you think? They look like little ghosts.

Then later
We already have about 9/10ths of it done, I just need to get under the kitchen table. Brian was really good about it, he opened the kitchen door and started laughing uncontrollably. What good parents we are the boys seem to think this sort of thing is not only fun but a good idea, see what fun Mommee and Daddy think it was!
I'm sure I should have punished them somehow but who could I?
Meanwhile, they got put in the baths and came out little dough balls. Their hair is going to take several days I'm afraid.

We just discovered m&m's in the playdough. Did you know that they melt playdough? I suspect it's some sort of chemical reaction. The thing you find out as a mother.

I just taught Leif to say “I'm English” in three languages, I figure that ought to help comes the revolution.
(editor’s note – the reply I got to this one was Wrong. Very, very wrong. What you should teach him to say is 'I'm not English,American and I'm not Jewish' in any language other than English. )

Lost in translation:
Lately, I've taken to reading the freeads. You can find them at freeads.co.uk. I particularly like the ones local to my area as I've discovered Leeds is more colorful than the rest of Britain; more cheeky; and more outrageously stupid.
Some of my favorites include giant land snails free to good home, and requests for free things on which the giver is required to pay the shipping and or handling fees. I saw a request for free bunk beds to be delivered to Keighley, with measurements and brand requirements and then an insistence that only serious people should apply (to give away their bunk beds to these people) no time wasters please, and it added that the persons delivering the bunk beds could call only between certain hours on Saturday. I told Brian that if people are really getting stuff this way, we need to maybe be advertising to receive.
This morning, as I was perusing my daily ads, I found this ad:
We are honored very much for you recommend this item, had it, your life on many several minute appeal It can take to you in the spirit to be joyful Art always can bring the happy mood to the person Your family member also can very happy receive this you to take to their accident to be pleasantly surprised Because it not merely is an art ware, but also is representing you to the life the deep love

Meanwhile, Brian got Leif an airplane which is dangling from the ceiling on fishing line. It has a propeller so if you turn it on it goes in a circle on the line. It's crazy and goes fast and scares me to death. Meanwhile, Leif has piled up cushions trying to reach it to turn it on because I keep latering him. Finally, he got it on, and I could hear Queak shouting from where I was in the kitchen making lunch. I came in to see what was going on, and Leif had reached the plane and was trying to push it into its circle and there was a huge pile of cushions he was standing on to reach the plane. I could hear Queak but couldn't see him, until I saw two little legs dangling out of the cushions kicking. He was under about four cushions, on top of two. I think Leif thought every little helps getting him to his plane.
Now Queak, having been rescued is glued to my lap.

Our day is going well enough. The weirdest part was baby.
I was down here sending Brian's fax number to the storage unit lady so she can send me the receipt and the baby climbed up the stairs. Usually, he plays with the bath toys which are in a plastic dish basin next to the bath, or he goes and trashes Celia's room. All of which is fine. But then he started crying, really loudly, so I finished what I was doing and went up.
Sometimes he'll get stuck, precariously, like with one foot on the toilet paper roll and the other foot on the toilet. But today, he was up in the bathroom sink, with all the toothpaste squirted out and a roll of toilet paper dissolving in his lap as the sink was filling with cold water from the tap.
He was alternately crying and making eyes at himself in the mirror.
Dork child of mine. Now how did he get in there?

I put the Olympics on for the kids, I showed the kids some ice skating and they were so unimpressed. What is wrong with my kids? We loved this stuff when I was a kid! Celia kept asking me why they were dressed like that, looked so gay and were tripping so much. Leif kept saying "he can't do his jumpies, he just messes up when he jumpies!"
Ungrateful little monsters. I'm watching skiing now.
